Welcome to the University of Hong Kong and congratulations on joining the Master of Arts in AI, Ethics, and Society Programme as a student of the 2024-25 intake.

We would like to invite you to our Orientation where you will have the opportunity to meet our teachers and classmates. Registration is now open. We look forward to seeing you soon!

This website serves as a communication platform to provide you with necessary information for your studies before the commencement of the programme. Once all information is transferred to [MAAIES 2024], this website will be closed.

Date: September 2, 2024 (Monday)

Time: 2:00-3:00 pm

Registration deadline: August 16, 2024 (Friday), 12:00 noon

Programme Requirements

You are required to complete 60-credits throughout a year.​

 

Semester 1:

  • 3 core courses (9 credits @)

 

Semester 2:

  • 3 elective courses (6 credits @)

  • 1 MA portfolio project (15 credits)

Course Enrollment

You will be assigned to 3 core courses for semester 1 and the enrollment results can be viewed via SIS by the end of August. Since some courses have two sub-classes, you are advised to reserve both sub-class schedules as enrollment changes are NOT allowed.

 

Since you are required to take 3 elective courses in the semester 2, we will collect your preferences through a survey form in October, and the enrollment results will be confirmed by the end of November.

You will also be assigned a supervisor for your capstone project, and the result will be released by mid-December.

Composition fees​
  • The first instalment was settled on acceptance of admission offer.

  • Student invoice will be emailed to your HKU email account, and available for download from the SIS.

  • You can view the payment schedule at the Academic Support and Examinations Section, Registry website at http://www.ase.hku.hk/.

  • For any enquiries regarding tuition fee, you can email to the Finance & Enterprises office at student@fo.hku.hk.​​

It is a single sign-on platform for University members to access all the centrally provided IT services including services offered under the Student Information System (SIS), Human Capital Management System (HCMS), email, learning management system Moodle, web-based administrative applications, Library services and more.

User Guide
It is automatically created after Online Master Registration. All announcements from the Faculty and the University will be emailed to your HKU email account (xxxx@connect.hku.hk).
 
You should check your emails regularly, including Junk Box. If you are using another personal email account, you may consider forwarding HKU emails to your personal email account.

Set & Unset Email Forwarding
It is the central Learning Management System for supporting teaching and learning.  It is a rich e-learning platform supporting the functions of Forum, Assignments, Choice for Tutorial Selection, etc. and is integrated with Turnitin plugin for plagiarism checking.

Other course information such as course outline and teaching materials will be posted in the Moodle course room of respective courses.

Students can access Moodle via HKU Portal > My eLearning > Choose the course room and click to access.
